To Avoid is Not a Negative

There’s something with our society that tells people avoiding situations is bad. “You must confront others!” They say so majestically in their silver armor on top of their fancy horses. “It is the only way!” They cry out before running at some guy with a lance. Yes, I just made a jousting reference.

Avoiding is not a negative.

What do they teach us in school? Avoid confrontation with bullies. That’s the only time, apparently, that it’s ever okay. Let me tell you other times it’s shown as okay: When being offered drugs. When you’re allergic to something. When it involves joining a gang.

Everybody talks about avoiding PHYSICAL issues as being okay, but they never tell you that it’s okay to avoid the mental hurt. The emotional hurt.

“Go and talk to the person causing you the issues.” Well, what if you’ve already tried that?

Here are some hidden examples of what some people call avoidance: Going to your room to cool off. Taking a walk. Putting on headphones and listening to really loud music. Putting in earplugs. Spending as much time as possible away from the person causing the issues.

Let me ask something, if you know everyday that when you go down a certain street, a guy is going to come and punch you in the face and you don’t know when but you know it’s going to happen and it’s unavoidable if you go down that street, are you going to avoid that street? Well you should.

So is it wrong to avoid the store where the person leers at you? Is it bad to kick out an explicit customer? Is it negative to avoid hanging out with the person you thought was your friend that keeps telling you how fat and ugly they think you are? Not in the least.

On that note, I’m going to the library again today.

Question time!

1. What are you excited about today?
Probably figuring out where I’m at. I’m not used to going so far above the planning stage that it’s a little scary for me. To think that even with a recent event that’s messing up my chances, I can still do things… It’s amazing. I’m excited to see what’s next.

2. What are you grateful for today?
Today I am grateful for tomatoes. And refrigeration. I had my eggs, onions and tomato combination this morning. It’s so good. I’m also grateful for chairs to sit on. And extra chairs for my cat to sit on.

3. What are you absolutely going to do today?
Well, I’m going to figure out what’s next, work on my weekly goals some more, and do some good reading. *nods*

My little list:
1. Work on weekly goals piece
2. Interact on facebook as the professional page
3. Play email catchup
4. Re-do my lemon water
5. Pack up for the library

Have a Productive Day!

Should I get IOS 7?

Good morning!

So the WordPress app here apparently has updates that are only available for IOS 7. A few other apps have the same problem. The app I have right now is working perfectly fine and I love IOS 6 but I’m wondering how soon it is before I have to just deal with the update.

Do you think they’ll plan on creating IOS 8 anytime soon?

So aside from that little question, I have an update on how I did yesterday. Was I on time? Yup. I made very good time yesterday. There were only a couple times I got behind, which I’m rather proud of. I finished the meditation research, even finishing the detailed outline for my pdf guide. Also, I did complete the recording of my late piece for my weekly goals.

On the negative side, I did not finish the writing prompt, but that had to do with my own insecurities. You see, I look at poems as a cop out for the prompts. This is a terrible way of thinking. Poetry is beautiful and I need to allow myself to utilize the skill I have at putting together words into such an eloquent fashion.

Oftentimes we underestimate the quality of what we do and that hurts us in the long run. We need to look at our skills and realize how great they are.

1. What am I excited for today?
I’m pretty excited for putting up some things on craigslist. I have a couple things I can sell and I can use the money to push my business forward.

2. What am I grateful for?
I’m pretty grateful for the concept of patience. I know I need to work on mine a bit, but I’m getting better. The better you get at patience, the less likely you are to be annoyed very fast.

3. What am I absolutely going to complete today?
This is a pretty hefty goal, but I’m going to record another late video and edit and post the other one. The reason it’s such a heft goal is because the editing is a lot of work for me. It shouldn’t be, but it is. Mostly because the files take so long to upload to the program. But I’m going to do it.

Here is today’s little list:
1. Work on Positivity Cards
2. Add Info to Business Cards
3. Edit Video 7
4. Interact on Facebook as the Professional Page
5. Work on Script 9

Make Lemonade

Everyone knows the phrase “when life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” The meaning of this involves optimism in the face of adversity.

I always got very annoyed by the phrase because it used lemons as it’s adversity symbol and I love lemons. I really do. I finally allowed the phrase to be accepted when I drank my lemon water this morning.

You see, I made the choice to add an entire lemon to my liter of water. And then I dropped in the end of the lemon for added flavor. I threw it in the fridge overnight so I’d have cold water in the morning.

Way too acidic!

I added sugar pretty promptly. Hence, my lemonade. 🙂

Today’s productivity questions!

1. What am I excited for today?
I’m excited to see if I can be on time with my schedule all day. Like it’s a kind of race thing and I’m just super excited and happy. Yesterday I was on time or early nearly all day which feels great! So today I’m going to see if I can create that same effect today.

2. What am I grateful for today?
Science. And knowing some science. Especially brain science.

3. What am I absolutely going to do today?
Today I shall get a lot of things done, just like yesterday! I’m going to attempt to do the twitter writing prompt, I’m going to FINISH my meditation research, and I’m going to record one of my late videos for the weekly goals.

Here is my little list!
1. Respond to important email.
2. Work on mostly dead laptop setup.
3. Wash dishes (which is actually part of a psychological experiment)
4. Work on positivity card list
5. Brainstorm content ideas.

Pretty soon I hope to add a little positivity phrase to each of these posts.
Enjoy your day!

Life in the Cesspool of Negative Things

I live with my parents. I’ve been in the same place for twenty years straight minus the time I moved out for six months. This is not a good thing. I’m not even going to touch on the kids living with parents debate. No. I’m going more for the environment issue.

You see, this house is filled with negativity. Arguments, messes, things breaking, more arguments, a lot of depression, anxieties, quirkiness that does not mesh well with others, that kind of thing.

For twenty years.

Nobody should be in that kind of environment. Hell, my parent shouldn’t have to deal with that kind of environment. But here it is. My problem with it is that it ruins my productivity. I am easily taken down by comments and people being crabby or depressed. So I go lay down and sometimes I fall asleep because it crushes me.

I want to be able to work on things.

So that means I need to come up with a way around this environmental damage. A lot of people are like “well just leave the house for the day.” Need I remind you it’s winter? I already walked 2 hours to the library yesterday. Hard to do that everyday.

I’ll get back to you with a plan later.

Moving on to the questions!

1. What am I excited about today?
I am excited about figuring out how marketing is going to work. Facebook algorithms are kind of screwing my page over, so I think I really badly need a website. But a website doesn’t allow the same kind of interaction. So I’ll try to figure that out too. Any ideas? Feel free to let me know in the comment section below!

2. What am I grateful for?
Left overs! I was given Leeann Chin last night by my boyfriend and I had some leftover so I heated it up with two eggs and it makes a pretty awesome breakfast!

3. What am I absolutely going to do today?
A lot of brainstorming. No, I’m dead serious. Today is a brainstorming day. I need to figure out marketing, getting past negativity, and what I should be searching for in regards to my product research.

So here’s today’s little list:
1. Reply to important emails
2. Go over research and create additional questions
3. Check balances and brainstorm budget
4. Brainstorm how to deal with negative situation
5. Brainstorm marketing strategies

Yup.

To the Library

I let myself wake up an hour late again. No shame in that. I was getting used to just getting up at one alarm but my sister is staying here for a couple months and she just can not do that. So I’ve begun to wake up multiple times in a row. I might just have to make my bedtime earlier so I can wake up with her first alarm ruther than continue this process of three hours of alarms.

Another note of interest is that we reset my laptop to factory settings and it works… Okay. I’m just scared of moving it or unplugging it from AC power because I lifted it to show my dad something and it reacted terribly.

And onto the title subject, I’m walking to the library today with Devohn. The weather will be below freezing, and it’ll be about a 2 hour walk, but it’s needed for my research for my product.

Why am I walking? I have no car. I have severe anxiety about paying cash on buses. I don’t have a bus card. Rides are busy.

There’s always another option, trust me. You can find one. Hence the walking.

It’ll be awesome to be able to do research there. I’m actually really excited. I hope they have a lot of books on my subject matter. It’s a rather large library.

On to the questions!

1. What am I excited about today?
Walking to the library, obviously. That and hopefully finding a super good book.

2. What am I grateful for today?
Books. And libraries that give you free access to said books. And refrigeration that makes sure mushrooms don’t spoil as fast. I had mushrooms with my eggs this morning.

3. What am I absolutely going to get done today?
The scripts. Doing some research. And my exercise, considering walking to the library will be exercise.

And my little list for this morning:
1. Kajabi
2. Khan academy
3. Lemon Water and Snack Making
4. Walking
5. Book Research

Yup.

The Computer Chronicles Continue

Hello readers!

There are eleven of you currently subscribed, which is pretty spiffy stuff and I thank you for it.

Moving on, my laptop is still dead. But that’s not all. I got accepted for a freelance job on Elance. It involves transcription work and is an hourly job. Well. Hourly jobs require you to use the Elance Work View.

This wouldn’t be a problem except for the fact that the old dusty computer here didn’t have Flash-player installed. After spending the morning trying to figure it out, my mother managed to get it to work.

Then I spent 15 minutes trying to install the time tracker because I didn’t realize I had to be on an admin account because it also wanted to install adobe air which it needed to work.

Long story short, I am now working on the project I was assigned to do.

There’s always a solution… It just might take all morning to get it to work.

Also, my friend Tim is coming over once again to try and get my laptop to work.

Moving on to the questions!

1. What am I excited about today?
Probably what already happened… Getting the computer to work. Like it really excites me that it’s now a completely viable, if slow and annoying, solution. I guess I’m also pretty excited to find out exactly what’s wrong with the laptop. If my theory is correct, it’s unfixable, but I’ll be kind of happy to be right. If my theory is incorrect, that means they found a way to fix it, and I’ll be pleased because it’s fixable.

2. What am I grateful for today?
I am grateful for my quick thinking to wake up an hour early after learning I had this job to do, it was a great choice, especially because of the time it took to figure out the computer. I’m also grateful for my mom, because she was able to get the flash to work.

3. What am I absolutely going to do today?
Well, I’m going to finish this job for this guy. I’m also going to work on more research for my product and probably work on getting pictures to sell my massage table and massage chair. I’m thinking of listing them on craigslist for $400 for the pair. It would help a lot with taking care of my product launch.

And here’s my little list:
1. Finish Elance Job
2. Try Plugging Laptop Drive into old computer
3. Create backlog
4. Kajabi lessons
5. Work in scripts

Have a Productive Day!

Shave the Cat

Hello!
You’ll notice this is posted a little later than usual… Well, and I didn’t post yesterday, but yeaterday was Oscars day…

Anyways, today I let myself officially get out of bed an hour late and not exercise because I’m not doing the best due to mother nature… and then guys, I decide to shave the cat. We have four cats at my house and one of them is super fuzzy and constantly getting mats.

Everyone was always talking about how they were going to shave her but nobody actually did it. So I took the clippers and brought her to the bathroom.

I haven’t actually finished, but the clippers were getting too warm so her and I are taking a break.

I bring this up because a lot of times people have things that they keep saying they’re going to do and it will never get done unless someone takes the initiative to actually do it. That’s right guys, I want you to shave your cat, or do whatever task you have been putting off for days and days that really ought to get done.

Oil change? Get it done. Sorting your mail? Get it done. Getting rid of bad food from the fridge? Do it. Washing the dishes? Get it done before stuff starts growing! Sheesh!

Also, in regards to my laptop… Well. I wish there were better news. Guys, I am going to be without a laptop until I can afford one.

Luckily for me, we have a very old windows computer that just kind of sits and gathers dust. It has microsoft word, windows movie maker, and I can install audacity. Yes, those are my tools of the trade for now.

What’s your excuse?

On to the questions!
1. What am I excited for today?
Probably trying to get that old dusty thing a figurative oil change! Meaning I’ll defrag and virus scan and add audacity, and that kind of stuff. We’ll see how fast I can make it go with very little in the way of knowledge or time 🙂

2. What am I grateful for?
My friend, Tim, for trying to help fix my laptop. The old computer with everything I need. And also, my ability to choose to just spend an hour in bed when I absolutely need it.

3. What am I absolutely going to do today?
So you all are used to me overshooting, but today my goals are pretty simplific. Take care of the computer, work on my weekly goal scripts, and do some research for my product.

So my little do list involves the following:
1. Scripts
2. Research
3. Lunch
4. Video lessons
5. Respond to important emails

You’re all awesome!
